Coughlin and Cope Advance to 50 Free Semi-Finals

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Natalie Coughlin finished fourth this morning (25.49) in the 50-meter freestyle preliminaries to earn a spot in the semi-finals of the event this evening. Coughlin has already made the Olympic team in two individual events, the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle.
Alum Haley Cope will also swim in the semi-finals after finishing ninth in the 100-meter freestyle preliminaries at 25.83. Keiko Price, who trains with head coach Teri McKeever in Berkeley, finished 17th in the event.
NBC will air taped coverage of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for swimming on Sunday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The trials conclude tomorrow.
