Coughlin and Cope Advance to Olympic Trials Finals Again

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Alumni Natalie Coughlin and Haley Cope both advanced to the women's 50-meter freestyle finals, which will take place tomorrow night, by finishing in the top eight this evening at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Coughlin tied for fifth in the semi-final at 25.39 while Cope finished seventh in 25.46.
Gary Hall Jr., who trains with men's co-head coach Mike Bottom in Berkeley, made the U.S. Olympic team by winning the men's 50-meter freestyle (21.91). Training mate Sabir Muhammad finished fourth, 22.41.
NBC will air taped coverage of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for swimming on Sunday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The trials conclude tomorrow.
