Torrence Sets PR in World Junior Championships

July 13, 2004

GROSSETO, Italy - Cal's David Torrence competed at the the 10th IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships today. He is in Italy as a member of Team USA along with fellow Golden Bear Darren Woods (4x400m). In the men's 1,500m, Torrence ran a personal best 3:46.60 en route to a fourth-place finish in his heat.

'I thought the race would be faster than the way it ended up. I wanted to stay in the front pack as long as I could. With 300m to go, I decided to make my move,' Torrence said.
