July 14, 2004
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Alum Haley Cope finished fourth in the women's 50-meter freestyle finals at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials this evening. Cope's finish, in 25.22, could put her on a relay team at the Olympics. She already qualified to swim the 100-meter backstroke in Athens.
Cope will swim that event with fellow Cal alum Natalie Coughlin, who finished sixth in the 50-meter freestyle tonight at 25.31.
NBC will air taped coverage of the U.S. Swimming Olympic Team Trials, which ended this evening, on Sunday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
