July 15, 2004

TEMPE, Ariz. - The fifth day of the 2004 US Track and Field Olympic Team Trials came to a close Thursday evening with a trio of former Arizona State track and field athletes competing at the meet taking place at the Alex G. Spanos Athletic Complex in Sacramento, Calif.

On the women's side, Kelly MacDonald and Lisa Galaviz both competed in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. MacDonald, the first-ever winner of the event at the Pac-10 Championships, clocked in 9:56.60, with Galaviz, the conference champion one year later, stopped the timer at 9:58.70.

In the men's 1,500m run, Brandon Strong clocked a 3:52.34 in the qualifying round and did not advance to the finals.

A pair of current Sun Devils and one former student-athlete will compete Friday in the 200m dash. Current team members Seth Amoo and Domenik Peterson will join former All-American Marcus Brunson in the event.
