Sprinter Peterson Finishes 14th at Olympic Team Trials in 200m

,b>TEMPE, Ariz. - The final member of the Arizona State track and field program wrapped up competition at the 2004 US Track and Field Olympic Team Trials Saturday in Sacramento, Calif., as Domenik Peterson competed in the 200m dash. The meet, being held at the Alex G. Spanos Athletic Complex, was being conducted to determine the members of Team USA for the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
Peterson, who advanced to the quarterfinals following the qualifying round held Friday night, clocked a 20.63 to finish fourth in his heat of the quarterfinals to earn an automatic berth in the next round. Ranked 15th overall in the field of 16 runners, Peterson finished at 20.82 to place seventh in his heat and 14th overall in the event.
Peterson's fellow classmate, Brandon Glenn, also saw competition earlier in the week as he represented the United States in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Grosseto, Italy. Competing in the pole vault, Glenn finished with no height after missing all three attempts at 4.80m. Glenn passed on the opening height of 4.45m and then again at 4.65m.
