UCLA Golf Update

UCLA golfers continued their participation in a vriety of amateur tournaments around the country this summer.
At the 46th Porter Cup ending July 24th at Niagra Falls Country Club in Lewiston, NY, former Bruin Steve Conway tied for 23rd at three-over par 283. Senior John Poucher tied for 57th along with former All-American Roy Moon at 13-over par 293.
In U.S. Amateur sectional qualifying results, sophomore Peter Campbell recorded a two-round total of 139 at the SCGA Golf Course in Temecula on July 21 to earn first alternate status. Moon became a third alternate on July 28 at the Woodburn, OR site.
At the Western Amateur this week in Benton Harbor, MI, Conway failed to qualify for the match play draw. The former All-American tied for 26th at two-over par 282.
On July 12th, former Bruin Gina Umeck qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur by posting an even par score of 72 at Talking Stick Golf Course in Phoenix, AZ. Senior Melissa Martin became the third alternate with a score of 74.
