Eight members of the NCAA Champion UCLA gymnastics team earned NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors during the 2003-04 school year, leading the Bruins to a standardized team GPA of 3.3022, ranked 30th in the nation.
Senior Yvonne Tousek led all athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA in 03-04. Two other Bruins earned 3.9 or higher GPAs - senior Jamie Williams (3.95) and junior Christie Tedmon (3.92). Williams earned Scholastic All-America honors for the fourth time, Tedmon for the third and Tousek for the second.
Sophomores Holly Murdock (3.81), Kate Richardson (3.76) and Jennifer Sutton (3.68) received repeat scholastic acclaim, and freshmen Michelle Selesky (3.64) and Ashley Peckett (3.55) were named to the team after their first academic year.
'It's very exciting and rewarding to be able to work with a group of athletes who value their experiences outside the gym, as well as inside the gym,' said UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field.
The NACGC/W Scholastic All-America team acknowledges gymnasts who carry a 3.5 or higher GPA during the school year.
