Lepp Fires 66 at Pacific Amateur

Eugene - Washington junior James Lepp posted a 5-under 66 during the third round of the 38th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship at Eugene Country Club to move up to sixth place entering Friday's final round. Lepp stands at 3-under 210 after 54 holes of play.Lepp, the tournament's defending champion, trails Pepperdine's Michael Putnam by six strokes. Lepp is attempting to become the first person since Billy Mayfair in 1987-88 to win two Pacific Coast Amateur titles.Putnam shot 4-under 67 for a three-day total of 204 and leads New Mexico's Spencer Levin by three strokes in the hunt for medalist honors.Husky sophomore Erik Olson shot 71 after posting back-to-back 69s during the first two rounds to fall back to fourth place overall at 209.Olson actually had the lead after the his front nine but he double-bogied the par-four 11th hole and made two bogies coming home to fall five shots off the pace.UW sophomore Alex Prugh shot 71 to move up to 26th overall at even-par 218.
