Husky Golfer Advances at U.S. Amateur

Erie, PA - Washington incoming freshman Kim Shin won her first-round of match play to advance to the round of 32 at the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur at The Kahkwa Club in Erie, Pa. Shin defeated Carolina Llano of Colombia 2-up.During Thursday's second round of match play, Shin is scheduled to face Jane Park of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Live scoring of the all U.S. Women's Amateur Championship matches can be found at www.usga.org.Shin, a native of Mountlake Terrace, tied for 21st in stroke play to advance to the match play portion of the competition. Shin will be a freshman at Washington this fall. The tournament runs through Sunday. Starting Friday, ESPN will televise the event.
