Shin Defeated at U.S. Amateur

Erie, PA - Washington incoming freshman Kim Shin lost in the second round of match play Thursday at the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur at The Kahkwa Club in Erie, Pa. Jane Park of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., knocked Shin out of the tournament with a 6 and 4 win.Shin, a native of Mountlake Terrace, tied for 21st in stroke play to advance to the 64-player match play portion of the competition. Shin will be a freshman at Washington this fall. The tournament runs through Sunday.
