Beavers In Brno
Aug. 17, 2004
BRNO, Czech Republic - The Oregon State volleyball team continues its European tour. After spending the first few days in Prague, the Beavers moved on to Brno, Czech Republic. Nancy Somera checks in with another update.Day 7 -- I can't believe how fast the trip is going by! We arrived in Brno, Czech Republic yesterday. I really like this city. It's similar to Prague, but not as big nor nearly as crowded with so many tourists. This morning we took a bus to the Moravsky Kras, a beautiful wilderness area with an extensive network of caves, caverns and underground rivers. We took a tour through the caves on foot and, at one point, walked through a very cramped area with opened up to an incredible abyss. We then boarded some boats to explore the rivers, which at times became interesting because everyone had to duck to avoid stalagmites and rocky walls.Tonight we played the Brno team, which is the top team in Division 1 in Czech Republic. They were not as physical as the National Team, but very good, with good defense and solid attacking. We played five games and won two, with a variety of line-ups in so that all of our players could work on some system aspects that we had gone over in practice on Saturday.Tomorrow we play same team and then travel to Vienna.
