Buck Named To Summer All-America Team

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State pitcher Dallas Buck has been named to the Summer All-America team selected by Baseball America magazine, it was announced Thursday. Buck (Newberg, Ore./Newberg HS), who is entering his sophomore season at OSU, was one of four starting pitchers to earn first team All-America honors.Buck, a righthander, pitched for the Falmouth Commodores in the prestigious Cape Cod League. He had a 4-1 record with a 0.77 earned run average while pitching in 10 games (starting seven); in 58 innings, he allowed just 26 hits while walking 20 and striking out 65.Baseball America also ranked the top professional prospects in each collegiate summer league, with Buck rated third in the Cape Cod League. OSU outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury (Madras, Ore./Madras HS), who is entering his junior season, ranked 17th in the Cape Cod League; also playing for Falmouth, Ellsbury batted .245 with one home run, three triples, two doubles, seven runs batted in and was 12-for-15 on stolen base attempts.First baseman Cole Gillespie (West Linn, Ore./West Linn HS), who will be a sophomore at OSU, was rated third in the Pacific International League. Playing for the Wenatchee Apple Sox, Gillespie batted .405 with five home runs, one triple, nine doubles and 26 runs batted in and was 5-for-6 on stolen base attempts.
