Huskies Ranked 21st In Preseason Soccer America Top 25

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Washington men's soccer is ranked 21st according to the Soccer America Preseason Men's Top 25, the publication announced Monday. Washington, which ranked 13th in last season's final Soccer America Top-25, is one of four Pac-10 teams ranked in the preseason poll.The Huskies join No. 2 UCLA, No. 10 California and No. 18 Stanford in the preseason poll. Three additional teams that Washington is slated to play this season are also ranked in the Top-25. The Huskies will face two of those opponents in their first three matches, including third-ranked St. John's and fifth-ranked Connecticut. Northwest rival Portland ranks 19th.The Huskies open the 2004 season with a six-game road trip, beginning at Gonzaga, Wed., Sept. 1, at 4 p.m. Washington will then venture East to face Connecticut, Sat., Sept. 4, at 4 p.m. PT in Storrs, Conn., followed by a match at 2003 NCAA runner-up St. John's, Mon., Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. PT in Jamaica, N.Y.Washington received votes in the NSCAA/adidas Preseason Poll that was released Aug. 24, but did not appear in the Top-25.
