Women's Golf Selected for Collegiate Match Play Field in November

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's golf team will compete in the 2004 Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship Nov. 14-16 in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.ASU is one of 14 teams in the field for the women's event, which will be played on the Los Colinas course of the Mission Inn Resort. Selection to the Match Play Championship was based on 2004 NCAA Championship finish, and 12 of the top 15 finishers from last year's national championship will play in the tournament.The Sun Devils finished 10th at the NCAA Championships last year and will be joined by Arizona, Duke, Florida, Furman, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, 2004 NCAA champion UCLA, UNLV, Wake Forest and Washington in the tournament.Under the direction of third-year head coach Melissa Luellen, Arizona State opens the 2004-05 season Sept. 20-22 at the NCAA Fall Preview in Sunriver, Ore. The preview will be held at the par 71, 6,300-yard Meadows Course at Sunriver Resort.
