Women's Golf Picked 13th and 14th in Preseason Polls

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's golf team has been ranked in the top 15 in two national preseason polls released last week.The Sun Devils have been picked 13th in the preseason Golf World coaches poll and 14th in the preseason Golfweek poll. Eight of the 10 Pac-10 schools were listed in the rankings with both polls featuring defending NCAA champion UCLA first.True freshman Louis Stahle also received mention as a second-team preseason All-American in the Golfweek rankings. Stahle comes to ASU from Lund, Sweden, where she was the top-ranked junior player in Europe. Stahle finished ninth in this summer's HP Open in Stockholm, Sweden.Under the direction of third-year head coach Melissa Luellen, Arizona State returns seven letterwinners and all five players from the squad, which finished 10th at last year's NCAA Championship.The Sun Devils open the 2004-05 season Sept. 20-22 at the NCAA Fall Preview, being held at the par 71, 6,300-yard Meadows Golf Course in Sunriver, Ore.
