Beavs Put Perfect Record On The Line In Virginia

THIS WEEK: The Oregon State women's soccer team is on the road for the first time this weekend participating in the VCU Invitational in Richmond, Va. OSU will play Richmond on Friday at 2 p.m. and Virginia Commonwealth Sunday at 9 a.m. Pacific time. OSU's 4-0-0 record is the best start the Beavers' have had since 1995's five-game win streak to open the season. OSU is tied for first in the Pac-10 with Arizona.
SERIES HISTORY WITH RICHMOND: OSU faces Richmond for the first time this weekend in the VCU Invitational. Richmond lost to James Madison 1-0 in its season opener, followed by a 2-1 win against VCU and a 1-0 loss at Clemson, bringing its overall record to 1-2-0. Richmond ended its 2003 season with a record of 11-9-2.
SERIES HISTORY WITH VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH: OSU will be facing VCU for the first time on Sunday. VCU beat George Washington 4-0 in its season opener, later losing 2-1 to Richmond and 5-2 to Wake Forest. Commonwealth beat Charlotte 5-1 in last weekend's match-up, bringing their record to 2-2-0. VCU was 10-6-4 in 2003.
SUDDEN IMPACT: Freshman forward Jodie Taylor (Merseyside, England) is currently tied for second for points (10) in the Pac-10 and is leading the conference with five goals in four games.
HOMETOWN SUCCESS: Junior Cara Miller (Corvallis, Ore.) is the daughter of former OSU basketball player Paul Miller (1973-1976), and has started 28 of 39 games for OSU as a defender. Miller is a key part of a defensive unit that has given up just two goals in four games.
OSU GAME HIGHLIGHTS VS. NEW HAMPSHIRE: OSU beat New Hampshire 4-0 Friday evening. The Beavers' dominated with goals from Jodie Taylor, Alyssa Blackwell, Stacey Mescher and Chloe Mutnick to bring home the win.
OSU GAME HIGHLIGHTS VS UNC-GREENSBORO: OSU finished off its winning weekend with a 2-1 victory against UNCG Sunday afternoon to claim the OSU Nike Invitational. Both goals came from Jodie Taylor with assists by Stacey Mescher.
