Cal Men Fourth, Women Fifth at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. - The California men's cross country team finished fourth at the Fresno State Invitational with 137 points Saturday at Woodward Park. The Golden Bear women placed fifth with 144 points.

Cal Poly won the men's competition with 28 points, followed by Chico State (47) and UC Santa Barbara (55). UC Santa Barbara took top honors on the women's side with 20 points, and Chico State and Cal Poly were second (52) and third (77), respectively.

UC Santa Barbara's Chris Ashley claimed the men's 8K crown in a time of 25:13, while Kara June, who was running unattached, was first in the women's 5K race (17:56).

Complete results were not available on the Fresno State Invitational as of late Saturday night. A report of Cal's individual performances will be posted on Sunday.
