HUSKIES RUN SEASON-OPENING WIN STREAK TO 5

The WASHINGTON Huskies (5-0-0 overall), winners of five straight games to open the 2004 campaign, have started a season with five victories just once before... The Huskies opened the 2000 slate with six consecutive wins en route to winning the Pac-10 Championship... Five different Pac-10 teams are ranked among the national Top-25 this week, with five teams ranked by Soccer Buzz, four by Soccer America, and three in the NSCAA/adidas poll... Washington vaulted to No. 4 in this week's Soccer America rankings, followed by No. 12 UCLA, No. 22 STANFORD (3-2-0) and No. 23 CALIFORNIA (4-1-1)... The Golden Bears make their Top-25 debut this week, riding a four-game unbeaten streak... The Bruins head to the Lone Star State to take on a pair of ranked opponents in No. 20/21 Southern Methodist and No. 14/15 Texas A&M... WASHINGTON STATE, coming off back-to-back wins, hosts No. 16/12 Pepperdine, while No. 24/19 Yale will pay the Cardinal a visit on The Farm... To date, Pac-10 teams have posted a 34-16-2 record (.673) against non-conference opponents this season.

PAC-10 WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTES

ARIZONA's Kamaya Damwijk, a senior walk-on, has quickly become part of the Wildcats' attack with four goals through six games... In her first season with UA, she has nine points. A record crowd of 1,505 was on hand in Tempe, Ariz., for the ARIZONA STATE-Notre Dame match on Sept. 10... ASU JR F Katie Leahy notched her team-leading fourth goal of the season against the Irish. CALIFORNIA posted its fourth shutout of the season with the 3-0 blanking of Colgate on Sept. 10... JR F Liz Eisenberg recorded her first collegiate hat trick, and the Bears' first since the 2002 season, in the 5-1 win over San Jose State. Idle last week, OREGON heads to the Northeast to take on Central Connecticut State and 2003 NCAA runner-up Connecticut. With its win over Richmond on Sept. 10, OREGON STATE matched the 5-0-0 start of the 1995 Beaver squad -- the best start in school history... FR F Jodie Taylor has seven goals through six games, including two in the 3-2 overtime loss to Virginia Commonwealth. Coming off a pair of road games against Big 12 opponents, STANFORD hosts the Stanford Invitational with Cal State Fullerton, Santa Clara and Yale visiting The Farm... SR GK Nicole Barnhart recorded her 30th and 31st career shutouts last week. UCLA travels to the Lone Star state for games against Southern Methodist and Texas A&M... In the 3-1 loss at No. 9 Virginia last week, JR F Jill Oakes scored for the Bruins, snapping the Cavaliers' 611-37 shutout streak dating back to last season. FR GK Veronica Simonton made two saves in her first career start for USC, earning the win over Mississippi State on Sept. 10... SO F Rosa Anna Tantillo, who notched two goals against the Bulldogs, paces the team with five goals and 11 points. WASHINGTON logged back-to-back shutout wins last weekend to improve to 5-0-0... The Huskies started the 2000 season with six straight wins before going on to capture the Pac-10 Championship... SO GK Kelsey Rasmussen has two shutouts on the season and five in her career... Washington has surrendered just three goals this season. WASHINGTON STATE picked up a pair of victories in the Loyola Marymount/Holiday Inn LAX Tournament... FR F Brooke Bemis notched two goals in 3-2 the win over Northern Colorado, while SO GK Katie Hultin recorded her third shutout on the season in the 2-0 defeat of New Mexico.
