WSU BASEBALL SIGNS WITH WILSON AND DEMARINI
Sept. 16, 2004
CHICAGO - Washington State University Baseball has signed with Wilson Sporting Goods Co. and DeMarini Sports. In the exclusive agreement reached between Wilson, DeMarini and Cougar Head Coach Don Marbut, Washington State will swing DeMarini VexxumTM bats and use Wilson ball gloves, batting gloves, helmets and catcher's gear for the 2005 season. The agreement marks Wilson-DeMarini's second signing of a Pac-10 baseball team in the past 12 months.
'In terms of equipment performance and support, Wilson and DeMarini bring the most to the table,' coach Marbut said. 'They're good people to work with, they're totally committed to baseball, and they make the bats and gloves that today's players are asking for.'
'We're very excited to have a Pac-10 program like Washington State on our side,' Wilson-DeMarini Bat Manager Pat Ryan said.Under the agreement, Washington State will hit exclusively with DeMarini bats including the 2005 Vexxum -3 Long Barrel. Known by players as 'the bat that bends,' the Vexxum is the first bat to combine a composite handle with an aluminum alloy barrel. Virtually indestructible, the Vexxum's Half & HalfTM system flexes before impact and recoils with a burst of ball-launching energy. The Vexxum's two-piece construction also redistributes weight for optimal balance, allowing players to swing faster with less energy.
The Cougars will also choose from Wilson's 2005 lineup of Pro-StockTM ball gloves, including models from the A2000TM and A3000TM series.
