Husky Women Golfers Open Play at Fall Preview

Seattle - The seventh-ranked Washington women's golf team opens its 2004 fall season Monday at the Mercedes-Benz Fall Preview at The Meadows Course at Sunriver Resort in Bend, Ore. The Huskies return four of the five golfers that led the team to a sixth-place finish at the 2004 NCAA Championships. The Fall Preview is held annually at the site of that year's NCAA Championships. Oregon State will host the NCAA Championships May 17-20 at the Meadows Course.
A total of 21 teams make up the field at the Fall Preview, including the nation's top 12 programs: host Oregon State, defending national champion UCLA (2), Oregon (35), USC (8), Arizona (10), Arizona State (28), Washington (12), Washington State, Stanford (18), California (3), Oklahoma State (9), Duke (1), Vanderbilt (4), Texas (16), Ohio State (5), Georgia (7), Tennessee (21), South Carolina (30), Auburn (11), Texas A&M (32) and New Mexico (6).
The Fall Preview runs from Sept. 20-22 at the par-71, 6,300-yard Meadows Course that is at 4,250 feet altitude. The 54-event will include 18 holes of stroke play each day with split tee times starting at 8 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Head coach Mary Lou Mulflur's lineup for the fall preview includes junior Paige Mackenzie, who was a second-team All-American last year, freshman Kim Shin, who participated in the U.S. Amateur Championship last summer, sophomore Ashley Bickerton, junior Sung Ea Lee and sophomore Amber Prange. Mackenzie led the Huskies with a 74.09 stroke average last year and carded six top-10 finishes during the season. Lee was second on the team with a 75.03 stroke average and five top-10 performances. She was named a honorable mention All-American last season.
