Third-Ranked Washington Volleyball Sweeps Montana, 3-0

BOISE, Idaho-- The third-ranked Washington volleyball team (7-0) defeated Montana (2-7) in straight sets this morning (30-18, 30-21, 30-16) to open the Northwest Challenge. The Huskies will play tournament host Boise State (9-1) today at 2:30 p.m. to determine the championship. BSU defeated Montana 3-0 earlier today.
UW held Montana to a .090 hitting percentage, while the Huskies hit .374. Washington has held its opponents to less than a .100 hitting percentage in five matches this season.
Washington used a balanced attack to defeat the Grizzles as no Husky had kills in double-digits and six players recorded five or more kills. Freshman Christal Morrison led the UW offense for the fourth-straight match with nine kills, while adding five digs, three blocks and two aces.
Brie Hagerty notched seven kills in the UW victory, while Sanja Tomasevic added six and Kaitlin Leck and Alesha Deesing chipped in five, apiece. Courtney Thompson logged 39 assists.
Tomasevic anchored Washington's defense with six digs and Candance Lee added five. The Huskies held the 9-4 advantage in blocks and seven players collected two or more block assists.
Audrey Jensen and Claudia Houle led Montana with eight kills each and Jackie White picked up seven digs.
Washington has yet to lose a game in seven matches this season.
