No. 2 USC looks to defend its Pac-10 title as it opens league play hosting the Washington schools... The No. 3 WASHINGTON Huskies roll into Pac-10 play with an eight-match winning streak, and have yet to lose a game this season... No. 14 ARIZONA has extended its winning streak to six matches, while No. 12 STANFORD has pushed its streak to four matches. Those two teams will lock horns Thursday at Stanford... The Pac-10's television package kicks off this week featuring No. 3 Washington at No. 10 UCLA in this week's FOX Sports Net televised match. The match will be televised on a tape-delayed basis on Saturday. Check your local listing for the times in your area... Here's this week's schedule (all times local to site):

STANFORD outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 13-19, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced.

Nnamani, a senior from Normal, Ill., was named MVP of the Northwestern Wildcat Classic after leading No. 13 Stanford to victories over Western Kentucky, Villanova, and Northwestern en route to winning the tournament championship.

Nnamani finished the week with 62 kills (6.20 kpg) on 107 attempts with only five errors for a .533 hitting percentage, collecting 12 digs (1.20 dpg) and 10 blocks (1.00 bpg) in the three matches. She posted 21 kills against Western Kentucky, added 23 kills against Villanova, and tallied another 18 kills against Northwestern.

Nnamani now has 1,809 career kills, which ranks fourth all-time on the Stanford charts and 10th on the Pac-10 career list. She has notched double figure kills in 37 consecutive matches.

This is the third weekly honor for Nnamani, and Stanford's 50th Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time.


MVP HONORS - Four individuals picked up tournament MVP honors last weekend - Arizona S Stephanie Butkus (American University Tournament); Oregon State OH Karah Rhoades (San Diego Tournament); Stanford OH Ogonna Nnamani (Northwestern Tournament); Washington S Courtney Thompson (Northwest Challenge).

ARIZONA - The Wildcats have won six straight... The Wildcats captured the title at the American University Tournament without the services of sophomore OH Meghan Cumpston. Cumpston, Arizona's leading hitter with 4.52 kpg has been suffering from headaches, nausea and fatigue and did not make the road trip... In three matches at the American University Tournament, Arizona hit .324, while holding the opposition to a .159 attack percentage... Recovering from shoulder injury, junior OH Kim Glass has been cleared to play after missing the first three weeks with a slight tear in a right shoulder ligament.

ARIZONA STATE - The Sun Devils will face a ranked opponent in each of their next four matches, and in five of their next seven... Freshman MB Colette Meek averaged 2.13 blocks in a split with No. 23 Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton. Her nine blocks against Fullerton were the most by a Sun Devil since 2000. Her 1.41 bpg this season rank among the league leaders... Freshman libero Sydney Donahue leads the Sun Devils with 4.19 digs per game... In two matches last weekend, sophomore OH Nicole Morton tallied 40 kills (4.44 kpg) and 42 digs (4.66 dpg).

CALIFORNIA - The Golden Bears have yet to play a match that has exceeded three games... With 948 kills, senior OH Gabrielle Abernathy is 19 kills shy of breaking into Cal's all-time top 10 career kills list... Sophomore libero Jillian Davis leads the Bears with 132 digs, averaging a Pac-10 best 5.50 dpg... Five of Cal's next six matches are against ranked opponents, with four of them coming on the road.

OREGON - Senior RS Lauren Westendorf posted a Pac-10 single-match record 12 service aces against Seton Hall. She bettered the old mark of 10 set by Stanford's Teresa Williams (vs. Illinois State, Oct. 9, 1986). As a team, Oregon tallied a Pac-10 single-match record 22 service aces (old record, 19 by OSU vs. Lewis-Clark State, Sept. 9, 1987)... The Ducks look to open Pac-10 play with a win for the first time since the 1998 season when they defeated Oregon State in three games. The Ducks also will look to snap a 24-match conference losing streak.

OREGON STATE - Senior OH Allison Lawrence needs four kills to reach 1,000 for her career, becoming the 10th Beaver all-time to reach that milestone... Junior OH Karah Rhoades has posted back-to-back double-doubles, including 14 kills/12 digs in OSU's win at No. 23 San Diego... Sophomore MB Abby Windell leads the team with 34 total blocks (1.00 bpg). She had a total of 27 blocks (0.44 bpg) all of last season.

STANFORD - The Cardinal have won four straight... After starting the season hitting .213 through the first three matches, senior OH Jennifer Hucke has hit .364 over the last six matches... The Cardinal lead the league in blocks (3.63 bpg). Sophomore Liz Suiter leads Stanford, and ranks second in the league, with 1.46 bpg... With 1,809 career kills, senior OH Ogonna Nnamani ranks fourth on Stanford's career list. She is averaging 4.52 kpg over her career.

UCLA - With 1,533 digs senior L Chrissie Zartman became the sixth player in Pac-10 history to reach 1,500 career digs. She's fourth on the Pac-10 career list. Former USC Trojan Katie Haller holds the Pac-10 mark with 1,702 digs... With 998 kills, senior MB Brynn Murphy needs two kills to become the 20th player in school history to reach 1,000 kills... Sophomore MB Nana Meriwether leads the league in blocks (1.93 bpg). She's posted five or more blocks in six of nine matches this season.

USC - Hurricane Ivan prompted USC to cancel its trip to the Carolina Volleyball Classic in Columbia, South Carolina last week. Matches with South Carolina, Notre Dame and Michigan State will not be rescheduled this season... The Women of Troy look to defend their Pac-10 title. They have won, or shared, three of the last four Pac-10 titles... Junior MB Bibiana Candelas leads the league in hitting (.453)... Five of USC's next seven matches are against ranked opponents.

WASHINGTON - The Huskies have won 23 consecutive regular-season non-conference matches dating back to the 2002 season. The streak started with a three-game sweep over North Texas on September 13... Their streak of consecutive games won stands at 24, equalling the school record of 24 set during the 1977 season... The Huskies have added sophomore setter Kim Heyes to their roster. Heyes transferred from Salt Lake Community College where she averaged 6.84 assists and 1.30 digs as a freshman... The Huskies lead the league in hitting percentage (.348), while holding the opposition to a Pac-10 best .075 attack percentage.

WASHINGTON STATE - After opening the season with five straight loses, the Cougars have won three of their last six... Washington State will face Portland Tuesday before opening league play in Los Angeles at USC Friday... Sophomore OH Kelly Rosin has posted double figure kills in each of the 11 matches played this season. She ranks eighth in the league with 4.02 kpg... Senior libero Stacey Holbrook has tallied double digit dig numbers in each of the 11 matches this season. She ranks fifth in the Pac-10 with 4.21 dpg. She was a recruited walk-on last season and posted a total of four digs in six games during the 2003 season.
