FINAL WEEK FOR NON-CONERENCE TUNE-UPS
Huskies Make It 8 In A Row
Heading into the final weekend of tune-ups prior to the start of Conference play, the league has posted a 56-26-4 record (.674) against non-conference opponents... Four teams are ranked among the Top-25 this week by Soccer America, led by No. 4 WASHINGTON (8-0-0 overall)... The Huskies are followed closely by No. 8 UCLA (6-2-0), No. 12 STANFORD (7-2-1) and No. 13 CALIFORNIA (7-1-1)... The Huskies ran their season-opening win streak to eight games, the new mark for the best start in program history... Coming off a win over No. 6 Portland last week, Washington has knocked off three Top-10 teams this season... UW continues its nine-game stretch away from Seattle when it plays at San Diego and San Diego State this weekend... A week away from opening Pac-10 play, ARIZONA (8-1-1) has already equaled the most overall wins in a season for the program... The Wildcats host No. 24 Pepperdine and Colorado College this week... The Bruins entertain Utah and No. 7 Santa Clara... Stanford plays on the Broncos' home field Thursday night... OREGON (1-6-1) returns to Eugene for its first home games since Aug. 29, taking on Wyoming and Gonzaga... Also back on its home field this week, OREGON STATE (5-4-0) looks to bounce back to its winning ways... WASHINGTON STATE (5-2-1) meets up with Loyola Marymount and No. 6 Portland... ARIZONA STATE (3-5-0) hosts San Diego State and travels to UNLV... California will play an exhibition game against the Mexican National Team, while USC is idle this week.

PAC-10 WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTES...
With eight wins on the year, ARIZONA has already equaled the most wins in a season for the program, as the Wildcats went 8-11-1 in 1997... In the 2-1 win at Weber State, JR F Nikki David scored UA's first goal in the 13th minute; it was her fourth goal of the season. ARIZONA STATE looks to snap a three-game losing skid when it returns home to host San Diego State Friday night... JR MF Manya Makoski netted her third goal of the year in the 2-1 loss at Pepperdine. After coming off the bench for six of CALIFORNIA's first seven matches, FR F Stephanie Wieger was given the starting nod against Fresno State and Pacific last week... Wieger tallied a goal and two assists in the win over the Bulldogs and added a goal and an assist in the shutout win over the Tigers... Wieger is second on the team with 13 points this season and leads the Bears with five assists. OREGON returns to Pape Field this weekend for its first home matches in more than a month... JR GK Domenique Lainez posted a season-high 11 saves Sept. 24 against No. 5 Portland, just four shy of her school record of 15 vs. Texas A&M in 2003. After matching the best start in school history at 5-0, OREGON STATE has dropped its last four contests... The Beavers were held scoreless for the first time this season in the 3-0 loss at Loyola Marymount... OSU hosts Portland State and Gonzaga this week. STANFORD captured the team title at the Santa Clara Classic for the second time in three years, earning the crown on goal differential... JR D Jenny Farenbaugh was named tournament MVP, while SR F Marcie Ward, SO F Gina Farias-Eisner and SR MF Martha West earned all-tournament honors. UCLA head coach Jillian Ellis is approaching her 100th victory at UCLA and currently stands at 98-20-5... FR GK Valerie Henderson has started all eight matches this season and is 6-2 with four shutouts and 24 saves. USC, which is idle this week, closed out its 2004 non-conference schedule by running its unbeaten streak to four games... The Women of Troy handed Saint Mary's its first home loss of the season... SO F Rosa Anna Tantillo has eight goals on the season, surpassing her total of seven goals last year, when she earned Pac-10 Freshman of the Year honors. In the midst of a nine-game road trip, WASHINGTON secured the best start in team history (8-0-0) and knocked off its third Top-10 ranked team of the season... The Huskies recorded their first ever shutout against No. 6 Portland on Sept. 26, defeating the Pilots 2-0... It marked just the second time in history the Huskies have beaten the Pilots... SR F Tina Frimpong is just two goals shy of the school record of 34 goals set by current Husky assistant coach Tami Bennett. WASHINGTON STATE JR GK Katie Hultin registered three saves against the BYU Cougars and improved to 4-1-1 on the season... JR F Alix Rustrum paces the club with four goals on the year.
