GRAY KICKS AWAY GAME TWO OF SERIES

Sept. 29, 2004

PULLMAN, Wash. - Crimson took advantage of seven Gray errors to cruise to a 12-4 win in game two of the Crimson-Gray World Series. Gray took the lead in the bottom of the second with a Scott Suttmeier RBI double, a Justin McClure RBI single and Garrett Kimbral's RBI double.

Gray held the lead until the top of the fifth when their pitching and defense fell apart.

In the fifth Crimson exploded for five runs on one hit. The lone hit of the inning was Brady Everett's solo homerun to cap the scoring in the inning. Crimson tacked on two runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh.

Jimmy Freeman picked up the win for the Crimson, while Eric Dingwall garnered the loss for the Gray.

'You cannot expect to win a baseball game when you make seven errors and walk seven. Our bullpen has to be able to come in the game and pitch effectively,' Head Coach Don Marbut said. 'The Crimson squad did a fantastic job of capitalizing on the mistakes made by the Gray. I was also impressed by the pitching performance of freshman Steve Kost. He put the Gray in position to win the game, the bullpen and defense did not hold up their end.'
