Cardinal vs. Broncos: Stanford is 6-16-3 against Santa Clara ... last season, the squads matched up twice and the Broncos won both contests ... the Cardinal lost a 2-0 decision to SCU at the Stanford Nike Invitational last October and dropped a 1-0 decision in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Santa Clara last November ... Stanford's last win over Santa Clara was in 2002, when the Cardinal posted a season-opening 3-0 victory over the Broncos at Buck Shaw Stadium.
Santa Clara Story: The Broncos are 6-2-1 this season, after extending their win-streak to five games with a pair of victories at the Santa Clara Classic last weekend ... the Broncos have taken over the 15th spot in the NSCAA poll ... three Broncos have already reached double digits in point scoring, with Tina Estrada leading the way with 12 points (5g, 2a) ... Leslie Osborne is right behind with 11 points (5g, 1a) and Megan Kakadelas trails with 10 points (4g, 2a) ... goalies Julie Ryder and Alyssa Sobolik have combined for a .95 goals-against average and 28 saves.
Cardinal vs. Gaels: Stanford is 13-5-2 against Saint Mary's ... the Cardinal has not lost a meeting against the Gaels since 1989, when Stanford dropped a 1-0 decision ... Stanford and Saint Mary's battled to a scoreless tie in 2001, but has won the last-three meetings.
Saint Mary's Saga: The Gaels have matched their 2003 win total with an 8-3 mark in non-conference play so far ... last fall, Saint Mary's finished the campaign with an 8-8-3 record ... Genevieve Hollis leads the way for Saint Mary's with six goals and two assists, while McKenna Belzer has tallied four goals and four assists ... goalkeeper Andrea Lee has allowed 10 goals in 11 contests, for a 0.90 goals-against average while picking up 51 saves.
Tournament Talk: Stanford won the Santa Clara Classic crown for the second time in three years last weekend, posting a 3-0 win over Denver and a 5-0 win against Marquette ... the Cardinal is the only team other than Santa Clara to win the Broncos tournament title.

Rankings Report: With six-straight wins, the Cardinal bumped up to No. 16 in the NSCAA/adidas poll ... the Cardinal allowed three goals at the Notre Dame Tournament, but Stanford has blanked every other opponent this season, helping the Cardinal to a No. 12 ranking from Soccer America and Soccer Times and a No. 10 ranking from Soccer Buzz.
Preseason Points: After a third-place finish in the conference and an NCAA Tournament appearance last fall, the Cardinal is ready for the 2004 season ... with seven starters back from last season and the return of Marcie Ward to the line-up, conference coaches voted Stanford as their likely choice for Pac-10 runner-up this season, with the Cardinal receiving two votes for first place.
Barnhart Bullets: Senior goalie Nicole Barnhart has been named to the Soccer America and College Sports Television (CSTV) Preseason All-America teams, as well as the MAC Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List ... the two-time All-American is co-captain of the Cardinal for the second-straight season.
