Off the Trail with Molly Bull
Oct. 1, 2004
Molly Bull is senior on the women's cross country team and is majoring in communications/public relations. Bull, from Oak Harbor, Wash., will rejoin the track team once the cross country season ends.
Movie - Dumb and Dumber. I like the funny ones, I'm not a big ultra drama movie fan, I get freaked out. Like I hated Lord of the Rings. I went with my dad and still got scared.
Book - When it comes to classics, I love The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. More recently, Paperback Original by Will Rhode was a really good book.
TV Show - I'm not much of a tv watcher but before the cable was disconnected, I was known to have CMT on quite a bit. HGTV was on quite a bit also. Trading Spaces, While You Were Out, those kinds of shows. I don't watch many sitcoms unless Ana (Cabrera) makes me. I've watched Friends with Ana and she invited me over to watch The Real World so you can say I've seen that but it was mostly because Ana had good food at her house.
Class at WSU - Right now, I like my History of Jazz class because it is relaxing. I can't say my journalism classes where my favorite, but they were the most rewarding. My history classes were probably my favorites. Political Science 305 with Amy Mazur, that was an awesome class.
Post Race Food - Definitely coffee, lattes, and gummy bears and gummy worms. I like the combination.
Musical Artist - Oh, I have too many of those. I like a lot of different kinds of music. I'm all over the board. Right now, I like Postal Service, Modest Mouse. And Dashboard Confessional, that's one of my favorites. All time favorite, I love REM.
Pre-Race Routine - Caffeine is a big part of it. Coffee, a Cliff bar and oatmeal. It is always the same. I used to have lucky underwear but then I had a bad race and then I kept changing lucky underwear and then I just realized that none of them are lucky. There are also Pre-Race dance parties back at the hotel to get us moving before the race.
Most Memorable Race - My first cross country race in college was the Idaho meet and I remember thinking it was like incredibly long, but that's only 4k and now it seems so short.
Fantasy Job - I want to be Marsha (Saneholtz) when I grow up. I would love to stay at WSU and be something big here someday. Maybe go around and do what I want to do and then end up back here.
Best Thing About Pullman - We get to run incredible places. People don't realize the scenery we are around all the time, like Moscow Mountain. There are some beautiful places. The nature and wheat fields on our morning 8am runs...just beautiful. People just don't realize it, but when you are running, you get to see it all at once. I like that about here.
Ideal Vacation - I've never been to Hawaii and I'd like to go there. And I'd also like to go to Boulder, Colorado because everybody always talks about how cool it is and I've never been.
Thing You Miss Most About Home - The Ocean. I kayak and there is no place here because I don't river kayak. We sea kayak in my family.
Conditioning Drill You Most Dislike - Mile Repeats
Advice to a Young Runner - Listen to your body and take your easy days easy and your hard days hard. And live it up and enjoy it.
