Women's Golf Moves to Eighth in Golf World Poll

Oct. 7, 2004

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's golf team has climbed five spots to eighth in the Golf World College Coaches Poll released this week.

The Sun Devils were ranked 13th in the preseason coaches poll but moved up to eighth this week after a pair of top five finishes in their first two tournaments of the 2004-05 season.

Most recently, Arizona State won the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate, held Oct. 4-5 at the New Mexico State University Golf Course, to capture the team's first tournament victory in four years.

Leading the Sun Devils to their recent success is freshman standout Louise Stahle. Stahle has turned in second-place finishes in each of her first two collegiate events, including a tie for second this week in Las Cruces, N.M.

ASU was ranked 13th and 14th in the nation in the Golf World and Golfweek preseason polls, respectively.

The Sun Devils return to action Oct. 15-17 at the Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate in Palo Alto, Calif.
