WSU Holds Intrasquad Meet

THIS WEEK: The Washington State University women's swim team will compete in an intrasquad meet Friday night at Gibb Pool. The meet will feature the Cougar swim team split into two squads, the Crimsons and the Grays. The squads will compete in 10 events.
COACH QUAM: WSU Head Coach Erica Quam is in her third season as the women's swimming coach.
THIS SEASON: The Cougars added eight newcomers to the 14 returning letterwinners.
LAST SEASON: At the Pac-10 meet had five swimmers place on the Cougar all-time top 10 list...top finishers included Lindsay Backhouse in the 100 and 200 backstroke, Jane Copland and Monika Povilonyte in the breaststroke events...Erin McCleave recorded a school record in the 200 freestyle.
ACADEMICS: WSU finished first in the nation academically spring semester 2004 (3.66)...Cougars finished fourth in the fall of 2003 with a GPA of 3.489.
UP NEXT: The Washington State University women's swim team will host San Jose State at Gibb Pool for its first competition of the 2004-05 season...the meet will begin at 6 p.m....after beginning the season at home the Cougars head to Stockton for the two day Pacific Invitational at the University of the Pacific which will be held Oct. 29 and 30...the Nov. 19 dual meet against the Huskies in Pullman is the first Pac-10 competition of the 2004-05 season for the Cougars.
