Brunelli Claims Bronze At World Short Course Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Nick Brunelli, a former member of the Arizona State University swimming and diving team, placed third in the 50m freestyle at the World Short Course Championships Saturday night at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
Brunelli, who won gold Thursday in the 400 freestyle relay, won his second medal in as many events claiming the bronze Saturday evening in the 50m freestyle with a time of 21.71. He finished tied for third with Nicholas Santos of Brazil. Brunelli entered the finals following a semi-final time of 21.92, placing him seventh overall heading into the finals.
Senior Florencia Szigeti, competing for Argentina, will compete in the women's 50m freestyle Sunday and 200m freestyle Monday.
The World Short Course Championships will be contested through Monday, October 11.
