WOMEN'S SOCCER LOSES TO USC 1-0
Oct. 10, 2004
Los Angeles, Ca. - Oregon State lost to USC 1-0 in Pacific-10 women's soccer Sunday afternoon at McAlister Field. The game brings OSU to an overall record of 6-7-0 and 0-2 in conference, while raising the Trojans to 8-3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Pac-10.
The Trojans' Tracy Lansing scored in the fifth minute off assists from Tina Sutorius and Kat Stolpa. Stolpa passed to Sutorius, who headed the ball to Lansing, who shot a 25-yard goal past OSU's goalkeeper Melissa Onstad.
'The goal stunned us,' OSU head coach Steve Fennah said. 'We didn't get anything going at all in the first half. We gave the ball away cheaply and didn't get things going.'
Despite being outshot just 7-6 by USC during the second half, the Beavers were unable to even up the score.
'We played better during the second half,' Fennah said. 'We didn't quite finish it off, so it was disappointing. We have to play a full game, it's as simple as that.'
Oregon State will be on the road next week taking on Oregon on Friday at 7 p.m.
