Jon Wong Captures C-Flight Singles Title at Bronco Classic

Santa Clara, Calif. - Junior Jon Wong claimed the main draw C-Flight singles title at the Bronco Classic hosted by Santa Clara University on Sunday afternoon. The final against Washington sophomore Michael Ricks came down to a third-set tiebreaker, with Wong coming out on top 6-3, 6-7, 7-6.
Wong won the first set 6-3, while Ricks claimed the second set with a 7-4 tiebreaker win. The third set went to a tiebreaker as well, with Wong earning the 7-5 victory and the C-Flight singles championship. It was the first career tournament title for the native of Los Altos Hills, CA.
The debut of the Bronco Classic saw more than 80 participants from 13 West Region teams participate, including a number of squads that finished last season ranked nationally by the ITA: Stanford, California, Washington, Oregon and Boise State.
