Tyler Ley Tied For Lead After First Day Of Jerry Pate Intercollegiate

Birmingham, Ala. - Junior Tyler Ley shot a career-low 66 in Monday's first round on his way to claiming a share of the individual lead through 36 holes of the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate held at Old Overton Golf Course.
Ley shot 70 in round two and has a total of 136, tied with David Schultz of Texas Christian and Mark Harrell of Alabama.
As a team, USC is in seventh place with a total of 561, nine strokes back of leaders Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech. Augusta State is third, Alabama is fourth and Georgia is fifth.
The Trojans are getting another strong outing from senior Ben Hayes, who shot a second-round 67 to tied for 16th at 139. Hayes is coming off his first career win at the Opus Husky Invitational.
The tournament's final round tees off on Tuesday morning.
