#1 Cardinal Women, #2 Men Race To Victory At Pre-NCAA Meet

Terre Haute, In - Alicia Craig and Ryan Hall led the powerful Stanford men's and women's teams to victory at the Pre-NCAA Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Indiana State University.

Craig, an eight-time All-American, defeated 251 other runners in capturing the individual crown and helping the top-ranked Cardinal women to the team title with 49 points. Notre Dame finished a distance second with 111. Craig ran the 6,000 meters in a time of 20:20.4. Three Stanford runners, including Craig, finished in the Top 10. Anita Siraki finished sixth (20:42.8) while Katy Trotter placed eighth (20:48.9).

Two Cardinal women competed in the Open 6,000 meters. Julie Allen placed third (21:38.8) while Lindsay Allen finished 20th (22:36.3). Emmily Chelanga of Iona won the race (21:35.2).

Hall, in his 2004 season debut, led the second-ranked Cardinal men to a first place title with 77 points. Notre Dame placed second with 165 points. Hall ran the 8,000 meter course in a time of 23:54.4. Hall was one of three Stanford runners to finish in the Top 10. Neftalem Araia placed fifth (24:01.0) while Jacob Gomez finished tenth (24:09.4).

Two Stanford runners competed in the Open 8,000 meters. David Vidal finished second (24:51.1) while Lauren Jespersen placed third (24:56.6). Josh McAdams of Brigham Young won the race (24:49.9).
