No. 12 Cardinal Women Notch 3-1 Victory Over Oregon State

Stanford, Calif. - Senior outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani tallied a match-best 28 kills to lead the No. 12 Stanford women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Oregon State tonight in Burnham Pavilion. Game scores were 24-30, 30-19, 30-20, 30-21. The Cardinal improve to 13-4 overall, 5-1 in the Pac-10 while the Beavers fall to 8-7 overall, 2-4 in league play.
With her 28 kills on the night, Nnamani now has 2,012 kills for her career. She is the only Cardinal in the history of the Stanford program to record 2,000 or more kills and only the third Pac-10 athlete to do so.
With OSU leading 5-3 in game one, the Cardinal went on a 5-0 run to go up, 8-5, and force a Beaver timeout. Oregon State came back to tie the game at 9-all, then took 14-10 advantage before Stanford got a kill by Ogonna Nnamani. The Cardinal called a timeout, trailing 16-20, after back-to-back OSU kills. The Beavers built a 24-18 advantage as Stanford called their final timeout. Oregon State reached game point at 29-20, however, the Cardinal held off three game points to force an OSU timeout. The Beavers would win game one 30-24.
Stanford posted the early 7-4 lead in game two after an Oregon State ball-handling error. The Beavers took a timeout, trailing 5-10 after a kill by Franci Girard. The Cardinal increased their lead to 19-10 on an OSU service error. Oregon State called their final timeout at 12-24 after a Beaver attack went long. Stanford reached game point on a kill by Lizzie Suiter and put the game away, 30-19, on Nnamani's 16th kill of the match.
Game three remained close early as Stanford held a slim 10-8 lead after an OSU service error. The Cardinal led 15-14 at the media timeout after another Nnamani kill. A Kristin Richards kill at 18-15 forced the Beavers to take their first timeout. Stanford ran off four more points to go up 23-15 on a service ace by Katie Goldhahn as Oregon State called a timeout. Stanford reached game point at 29-20 on a kill by Nnamani and won 30-20 on a block by Lizzie Suiter and Jennifer Hucke.
The Cardinal went up 7-2 early in game four, and led 11-6 as OSU called their first timeout. Stanford held a 17-10 advantage after an Nnamani kill. The Cardinal continued to roll, reaching match point on a service error by the Beavers at 29-21. An Oregon State hitting error ended the match at 30-21.
Kristin Richards notched her 11th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 19 digs while Jennifer Hucke chipped in 10 kills and 10 digs on the night. Lizzie Suiter led the match with seven blocks.
The Cardinal are back in action tomorrow night at Burnham Pavilion, facing the Oregon Ducks at 7 p.m.
