Alex Grant is a sophomore on the cross country team. Grant from Bellingham, Wash., has been a consistent top three finisher for Washington State this season.
Athlete - Lasse Viren. He's a Finnish distance runner and won back-to-back gold medals in the '72 and '76 Olympics in the 5k and 10k. He's the only guy to ever repeat in the 5k.

Post-Race Food - Beef Jerky, has to be hickory smoked flavor.
Pre-Race Routine - Wake up four hours before the race and warm up about an hour before. I usually listen to some music and eat a banana and half a bagel.
Most Memorable Race - The state cross country meet my senior year of high school. I wasn't a favorite to win and it came down to a kick and I usually suck at kicks, but I managed to pass up a bunch of people for the win.
Fantasy Job - To be an unemployed backpacker.
Best Thing About Pullman - The small town, family atmosphere. The running is great too with all the dirt roads and hilly terrain.
Thing You Miss Most About Home - The ocean and the forests.
Conditioning Drill You Most Dislike - I hate weights.
What Advice Would You Give a Young Runner - Don't let anyone tell you that winning is not the most important thing because it is.
Ideal Vacation - Backpacking around Europe. Italy, England, and Ireland for all the history.
