ARIZONA, UCLA SHARE PAC-10 LEAD AS HALF-WAY MARK NEARS

Chartering new territory, the ARIZONA Wildcats (12-3-0 overall, 3-1-0 Pac-10) sit atop the Pac-10 standings along with defending Conference Champion UCLA (10-4-0, 3-1-0) as the half-way mark of the nine-game league schedule approaches... The Wildcats are receiving Top-25 rankings for the first time in program history... After making their debut in the Oct. 11 version of the national polls at 24th in Soccer America and 29th in Soccer Buzz, Arizona jumped to 16th and 23rd, respectively, in this week's polls... The `Cats will battle rival and third-place Pac-10 team ARIZONA STATE (6-7-1, 2-1-1) in Tucson Friday night... The Bruins play host to the Bay Area schools, with the UCLA-Stanford women's game the second match of a double-header between the Bruin and Cardinal men's programs... Coming off a 2-0 weekend, WASHINGTON STATE (7-5-2, 2-2-0) travels to the Oregon schools... Likewise, the WASHINGTON Huskies (10-3-1, 1-2-1) will compete at OREGON STATE (7-7-0, 1-2-0) and OREGON (3-9-1, 0-0-0), heading back on the road for the sixth time in the last seven weekends.

Five Pac-10 teams are ranked among Soccer America's Top-25 this week: UCLA remains at No. 6, Washington stays put at No. 7, Stanford moves down four places to No. 14, California slides one spot to No. 15 and Arizona makes the league's biggest jump, up eight places to No. 16. Here's how the league is ranked in this week's SoccerBuzz Top-30: No. 8 Stanford, No. 10 UCLA, No. 16 Washington, No. 19 California and No. 23 Arizona.

PAC-10 WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTES

ARIZONA recorded its first ever victory over Stanford on Oct. 15, winning 1-0 in double-overtime... JR MF Nikki David scored off a corner kick in the 108th minute, leading the Wildcats to their school-record third Pac-10 win of the season. ARIZONA STATE JR MF Brittany Cooper scored both of the Sun Devils' goals this past weekend against California and Stanford, including the game-winner against the 14th-ranked Golden Bears in Berkeley... Cooper leads the Sun Devils with six goals and is tied for the team high with 13 points. FR F Stephanie Wieger scored her sixth goal of the season, and first ever game-winner, in CALIFORNIA's 1-0 shutout of Arizona Oct. 17... Wieger missed the Oct. 15 game against Arizona State due to a midweek concussion... SO Anna Key started her third game of the season in goal in Cal's win Oct. 17 over Arizona. JR GK Domenique Lainez posted three saves in OREGON's 3-0 loss to Oregon State... Lainez paces the Pac-10 in saves per game (5.33 avg) and has 64 on the season... The Ducks remain at home against the Washington schools this week, where they look to snap a three-game losing streak. SR F Courtney Carter notched her first goal of the season in OREGON STATE's 3-0 Civil War blanking of Oregon last week... The goal was OSU's second of the game and helped snapped the team's two-game losing skid... FR F Jodie Taylor continues to lead the league in goals (11) and goals per game (0.79). Sandwiched between Pac-10 games against Arizona and Arizona State last weekend, STANFORD SR GK Nicole Barnhart traveled to Kansas City, Mo., where she earned her first cap with the U.S. Senior National Team (as a forward)... Barnhart has allowed just seven goals on the season, posting a 0.49 goals against average... She ranks fourth in school annals with 172 career saves (41 in 2004). SO F Bristyn Davis became the third Bruin to register a hat trick this season after scoring three second-half goals in UCLA's win over Washington Oct. 17... Davis paces the Conference in points with 25 (10 goals/5 assists)... JR F Iris Mora assisted on Davis' third goal, her second assist of the game. FR Veronica Simonton registered six saves in USC's 2-1 loss at Washington, as the Women of Troy were outshot 18-7... SO F Rosa Anna Tantillo notched USC's goal in the 50th minute, her ninth on the season (3rd, Pac-10). SR F Tina Frimpong became WASHINGTON's all-time leading scorer in the 1-0 win over USC on Oct. 15, notching her 35th career goal with 42 seconds left in the final overtime... It was the eighth goal on the year for Frimpong, who moved past current UW assistant coach Tami Bennett (1997-2000)... The Huskies travel to the Oregon schools for their sixth weekend on the road out of the last seven. WASHINGTON STATE defeated UCLA and USC last week, marking the first time the Cougars have beaten both the Bruins and Women of Troy in the same season... WSU also posted its first shutout over USC since the 1998 season... It was JR GK Katie Hultin's sixth shutout on the year.
