Arizona State Day At The Arizona Fall League Set For Oct. 29

TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Arizona State Baseball fans will have a unique opportunity to watch former Sun Devils Dustin Pedroia and Mitch Jones play each other during ASU Day at the Arizona Fall League on Oct. 29 at Scottsdale Stadium.
ASU fans can show their spirit by wearing maroon and gold and will receive $1 off admission to the Friday night game (7:05 p.m.) between the Grand Canyon Rafters (Mitch Jones) and the Scottsdale Scorpions (Dustin Pedroia). The 2005 Sun Devil baseball team will also be in attendance signing autographs and passing out schedules for the upcoming season.
Pedroia (2002-04) was a three-time All-Pac-10 selection for the Sun Devils and was one of five finalists for the prestigious Golden Spikes Award in 2004. The All-American shortstop ranks tied for seventh in the ASU record books with a .384 career batting average. He also set the Pac-10 and ASU single-season record with 34 doubles in 2003. Pedroia was drafted in the second round of the 2004 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox (65th overall) and combined to hit .357 (56-for-157) with 13 doubles, three home runs and 19 RBI in 42 games split between Augusta and Sarasota in the Red Sox farm system. Through October 19, Pedroia is hitting .316 (6-for-19) for Scottsdale.
Jones (1999-2000) set ASU's single-season home run record when he belted 27 during his senior season in 2000. He also ranks seventh in the career record books with 38 home runs. Jones is coming off a solid season with the Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. He led the Eastern League and finished third in the minor leagues with 39 home runs. Through Oct. 19, Jones is hitting .291 (9-for-31) with two home runs and six RBI for Grand Canyon.
In addition to the ASU festivities that evening, the Arizona Fall League will also induct Anaheim Angels outfielder Garret Anderson into the AFL Hall of Fame. The Fall League will also give away 100 Richie Sexson Bobblehead Dolls that evening through a lucky number drawing for all fans in attendance.
