Stahle 42nd at Women's World Amateur Championships

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - Freshman Louise Stahle stands in a tie for 42nd after the first round of the Women's World Amateur Championships, being held Oct. 20-23 at the Rio Mar Country Club.

Stahle, who is representing Sweden at the event, carded a three-over 75 in Wednesday's first round. Sweden is tied for fifth in the team competition with an even-par 144 in the first round.

Stahle is joined by Oklahoma State's Karin Sjodin and California's Sofie Andersson on the Swedish team. Sjodin is tied for second after shooting a three-under 69 on Wednesday, while Andersson is tied for 65th at five-over 77.

Canada is leading the tournament with a seven-under 137 on Wednesday, while the United States is two strokes behind at five-under 139.
