Former Husky Golfers Advance at Q-School

Seattle - A pair of former members of the Washington men's golf team have advanced to the Second State of PGA Tour qualifying. Three-time All-American Brock Mackenzie (Yakima) and John Robertson (Olympia) were among the top 23 finishers at the first round qualifying site at PGA West in LaQuinta, Calif.

Mackenize shot 290 during the four-day-72 hole qualifying event. He had rounds of 70, 77, 73 and 70. Mackenzie finished eighth, seven strokes behind Charlie Wi of Westlake Village, Calif.

Robertson, who was a senior at Washington in 2003, placed 17th. He shot 293 with rounds of 69, 78, 74 and 72.

The top 23 players (plus ties) from the tournament advanced to the second round that will take place Nov. 17-20. The final round of qualifying will take place Dec. 1-6 in LaQuinta.
