No. 13 Cal Volleyball Falls to No. 1 Washington, 3-0

SEATTLE, WA - The No. 13-ranked California volleyball team (10-7, 5-3) saw a three-match winning streak come to an end as the Golden Bears fell to No. 1-ranked Washington (16-0, 8-0), 3-0 (30-22, 31-29, 30-20), Friday night at Bank of America Arena in Seattle. Cal had won three-straight matches, including a victory over two-time defending NCAA champion USC Oct. 9, and had won three consecutive matches in the series against the Huskies, before falling Friday evening.
Washington out hit the Bears, .374-.176, and were led by Brie Hagerty's 18 kills and .533 hitting percentage (18k, 2e, 30att). Christal Morrison added 14 kills for the undefeated Huskies.
Cal was led by freshman outside hitter Angie Pressey's 13 kills, while senior outside hitter Gabrielle Abernathy chipped in 12 kills. Senior middle hitter Camille Leffall finished with 11 kills and had an impressive .647 hitting percentage, recording her 11 kills with no errors in 17 attempts. Junior middle hitter Alicia Powers had 10 kills, sophomore setter Samantha Carter recorded 49 assists and sophomore libero Jillian Davis had a team-high 15 digs.
The Bears will next travel Washington State, Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at Bohler Gym in Pullman.
