Zalameda Advances to Final at ITA Regionals

San Diego, Calif. - UCLA freshman Riza Zalameda upset top-seeded Dianne Hollands of Arizona in Sunday's semifinals, advancing to Monday's title match at the Wilson/ITA Western Regional Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center.

Zalameda, a 9-16 seed, defeated Hollands, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. She will meet USC's Lindsey Nelson in the title match. Nelson was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over UNLV's Elena Gantcheva.

The Bruins will also have a team in the doubles final, as Daniela Bercek and Zalameda will take on ASU's Pilecka/Burkett. Both teams advanced with 8-5 wins on Sunday.

Those that moved on to Monday's final will have the chance to earn a spot in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships held Nov. 4-7 at the University of Michigan.
