Bruins Finish Third at Bandon Dunes

The UCLA men's golf team finished third and the Pac-10 claimed the team title in the inaugural Pac-10/Big-10 Challenge hosted by the University of Oregon at Bandon Dunes GC in Bandon, Ore.
The Bruins, who held the first round lead on Monday, dropped to third place after posting a team score of 307 (+19) on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 598 (+32). Minnesota and USC tied for first place at 596 (+30), but the Golden Gophers were declared winners by virtue of a better fifth player's score. Arizona State placed fourth at 601 and Northwestern was fifth at 602.
Individually for UCLA, sophomore Peter Campbell tied for fourth place at 145 (+1) after carding an even par round of 72 on Tuesday. Senior John Poucher tied for 11th at 149 (+5), followed by freshman Kevin Chappell who tied for 22nd at 152 (+8), Freshman Daniel Im tied for 28th at 153 (+9) and sophomore Chris Heintz tied for 33rd at 154 (+10).
Alejandro Canizares of Arizona State won low medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 142 (-2).
The Pac-10 defeated the Big-10 in the seven-count-six daily scoring by 29 shots.
