Bruins Head to the Desert for Crucial Pac-10 Matches . . .
The No. 5/9 UCLA women's soccer team (11-5; 4-2 Pac-10) heads to the Desert this week for a pair of Pac-10 matches against the Arizona Schools. The Bruins begin action this Friday, taking on Arizona State (7-7-1; 3-1-1 Pac-10) in Tempe beginning at 7:00 p.m. UCLA, which leads the all-time series with the Sun Devils 6-1, has won the last three meetings. On Sunday, the Bruins will travel to Tucson for a 1:00 p.m. match against No. 18 Arizona. UCLA has never lost to Arizona, owning a perfect 10-0 record in the series and outscoring the Wildcats 40-3. Both matches will be crucial in determining this year's Pac-10 champion, as all three teams are within one game of each other in the conference standings.

Bruins Split With Bay Area Schools . . .
UCLA started last weekend with a 1-0 victory over No. 18 Stanford on Friday evening. Bruin forward Bristyn Davis scored the game's only goal in the 86th minute on an assist from Lindsay Greco. The Bruins weren't as fortunate against No. 15 Cal on Sunday, surrendering a golden goal double-overtime (104:46) to fall 1-0. UCLA had one four five in a row against Cal heading into the match.

Pac-10 Race Tightens With Three Matches to Play . . .
As the only one-loss team in the conference, Arizona State leads the Pac-10 with a 3-1-1 overall record. UCLA is right behind at 4-2, followed by Arizona (3-2) and Washington (3-2-1). Since the Bruins will face both ASU and Arizona this week, UCLA controls its own destiny and can defend its Pac-10 title if it wins out. The Bruins final conference match of the season is at USC on Nov. 7.

UCLA in the Rankings . . .
After splitting matches over the weekend, UCLA dropped from No. 7 to No. 9 in this week's NSCAA/adidas poll. Soccer America moved the Bruins up a spot from No. 6 to No. 5. UCLA has been in the top-10 of both polls all season long. North Carolina regained the top spot in both polls this week after previous No. 1 Notre Dame played to a scoreless draw with Rutgers.

Seniors Awarded Before Final Home Match . . .
Kendal Billingsley, Kim Devine, Amy Fazio, Lindsay Greco, Julie Hoshizaki and Sarah Lombardo were the six UCLA seniors recognized prior to Sunday's match against Cal. During their time in Westwood, this year's senior class has posted an impressive 69-14-3 overall record. They have played in three NCAA Tournaments, reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2001, the third round in 2002 and the Final Four in 2003. They has also won two Pac-10 Championships (2001 & 2003).

Against the NSCAA/adidas Top-25 . . .
UCLA owns a 6-1 record against teams ranked in the NSCAA/adidas Top-25, with its only loss coming against No. 9 Virginia. On the other side of the coin, four of the Bruins' losses have been to unranked opponents. UCLA's top-25 wins have come against No. 21 SMU, No. 15 Texas A&M, No. 24 Pepperdine, No. 15 Santa Clara, No. 7 Washington and No. 18 Stanford.
