California Freshman Suzi Babos Captures Singles Title at Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championships

Stanford, CA - Freshman Suzi Babos defeated the No. 1 seed, Alice Barnes of Stanford, to capture the singles crown at the Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championships. As the singles champion, Babos has qualified for the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the University of Michigan, Nov. 4-7.

The eighth-seeded Babos won seven matches on her way to the capturing the crown. She defeated a pair of top 20 ITA nationally ranked players in the semifinals and finals, beating No. 17 Erin Burdette and No. 6 Alice Barnes, both of Stanford.

Throughout Babos' remarkable run in the tournament, she never dropped one set. She defeated four consecutive Stanford opponents, three of whom are ranked in the top 80 nationally, to win the title.

Babos' current singles record through the fall is a perfect 11-0.

Babos will next appear in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the University of Michigan, Nov. 4-7.
