Another tough loss for OSU as they loe 2-1 to No. 18 California

Oregon State fell to No. 18 California 2-1 in Pacific-10 men's soccer Friday afternoon in Berkeley. The Beavers drop to 5-9-1 overall and 0-5-0 in Pacific-10 play. The win for California is their tenth of the season and moves their record to 10-3-2 overall and 2-3-1 in Pacific-10.
The Beavers scored their first and only goal of the game down 2-0 late in game at the 77th minute mark. On a pass from Robbie Findley, Brett Gardner scored from 16 yards out to make the game competitive before the clock expired. The goal was Gardner's fourth of the season; that ties him for second on the team. In his first game back from a two-week layoff, Robbie Findley was able to contribute with an assist that makes him the team leader in that category with four on the season.
The first goal of the game came early in the 5th minute on a California free kick. Nick Hatzke chipped the ball into Calen Carr who was able to head it past the Beaver defenders from six yards out.Hatzke struck again in the second half when he assisted Eric Ebert on the second goal of the game for the Bears off another free kick. Eric Ebert scored the decisive six-yard goal for the Bears in the 55th minute to go up 2-0.
Another rough match between the two teams ended with a total of 28 fouls and two yellow cards. Oregon State led slightly in shots 8-6 and in corner kicks 3-1, but the Beavers couldn't convert on their scoring chances.
OSU plays again Sunday when they square off against the Stanford Cardinal at 2:30 in California. The Cardinal beat the Beavers in a close 2-1 game earlier this season.
