Volleyball Cruises To 3-0 Win Over ASU

LOS ANGELES - Keao Burdine collected 18 kills and 20.5 points for the second consecutive night to lead the fifth-ranked USC women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-16, 30-15, 30-20) victory over Arizona State on Saturday at the Lyon Center. The senior outside hitter compiled a .455 attack percentage, just shy of her season best.
With the win, the Women of Troy improve to 14-3 overall and 9-2 in the Pac-10, while the Sun Devils fall to 8-12 overall and 3-8 in conference play.
The sweep marks the eighth-straight for the Trojans in the Arizona State series and the 18th consecutive victory overall.
Burdine led an overall strong offensive effort by the Women of Troy. USC hit .400 for the match with five players all finishing above .389, including Burdine, Alicia Robinson (.600), Emily Adams (.571), Staci Venski (.471) and Bibiana Candelas (.389). Adams led the team with eight blocks and Debora Seilhamer led with 23 digs.
Junior transfer Nena Siljegovic made her first official appearance in the starting rotation, coming off the bench in the Trojans' 6-2 offense. She accounted for 15 assists, while setter Alli Dillon added 18.
After watching USC win games one and two with ease, Arizona State fought back in the final set, matching the Women of Troy point-for-point at the start. The Sun Devils took their first lead of the match at 15-14, only to have the Trojans rattle off seven straight points for a 21-15 advantage. USC outscored Arizona State 9-to-5 in the final stretch for the 30-20 win.
Up next, the Women of Troy travel to No. 13 California and No. 11 Stanford for matches on Thursday, Nov. 4, and Friday, Nov. 5. The USC-Cal match will be televised live on Fox Sports West.
