Biro Claims Singles Title At ASU Thunderbird Men's Tennis Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The final day of the Arizona State Thunderbird Men's Tennis Collegiate Invitational concluded Saturday with players from Arizona State and Auburn competing in the final round of doubles and singles. Arizona State's Christopher Biro took home the singles title while Auburn's duo of Gabor Zolton Pelva and Robert Lathouwers won the doubles championship.
Biro defeated Alex Schweizer of Auburn, 5-7, 6-0, 6-4, in a hard-fought three set match to take home top honors Sunday. He battled back after losing the first set to take the next two in convincing fashion and bring home the win. In other singles action, the Sun Devils Jonathan Kinsella lost a tough match to Lathouwers in the consolation match, 6-4, 6-4, to earn the fourth place spot while Lathouwers claimed third.
In doubles competition, Arizona State's Biro and Nick Hegarty fell to Auburn's Pelva and Lathouwers, 8-5, to earn the runner-up spot while the Tigers' duo claimed the championship.
