Husky Golfers Grab Early Lead in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV - The third-ranked Washington women's golf team leads the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown after the opening round of play. Washington shot 6-over 294 and owns a two-stroke lead over host UNLV.
Husky sophomore Amy Wang (Kirkland) led Washington's effort by shooting even-par 72. She trails tournament leaders Megan Hull of Texas Tech and Jessica Potter of San Francisco by one stroke. Washington juniors Sung Ea Lee and Paige Mackenzie and freshman Kim Shin are tied for seventh at 2-over 74. Ashley Bickerton rounded out the UW scoring with an 81. She is in 59th place.
Wang's score was her best as a collegiate. She shot 73 last fall at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Her best finish at Washington came at this year's Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational where she placed 25th.
