While WASHINGTON holds on to its two-game lead, the battle for second place will be waged this weekend in the Bay Area as No. 4 USC and No. 16 UCLA head north to take on No. 11 CALIFORNIA and No. 12 STANFORD... Thursday's match between USC and California will be televised by FSN for a delayed broadcast on Saturday... In other Pac-10 action, the Oregon schools travel to the dessert to take on No. 22 ARIZONA and ARIZONA STATE, while top-ranked Washington travels to WASHINGTON STATE... Here's this week's schedule (all times local to site):

PAC-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANGIE PRESSEY, CALIFORNIA

CALIFORNIA outside hitter Angie Pressey has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 25-31, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced.

Pressey, a freshman from Heathrow, Fla., helped lead No. 13 California to a five-game victory over No. 11 Stanford. California has now defeated Stanford in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1978 and 1979.

She hit .327 in collecting 25 kills on 52 attempts with eight errors. Pressey also posted 13 digs and added three total blocks.

This is the first weekly honor for Pressey, and California's 20th Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time.

PAC-10 NOTES


ARIZONA - Sophomore OH Meghan Cumpston tallied a career-high 24 kills and hit .346 in the win over UCLA... Senior L Kelli Mulvany continues to climb the school's career digs list. With 1,088 career digs, she needs eight to move into fifth on the all-time list and 24 digs puts her fourth on the list... The win at UCLA was the third straight over the Bruins in Los Angeles... Senior MB Jolene Killough posted a pair of error-free matches, collecting 11 kills on 16 attempts (.688) at USC and eight kills on 15 attempts (.533). Over the last three matches, Killough is hitting .634 with 28 kills in 41 attempts and no errors.

ARIZONA STATE - The Sun Devils and Washington are the only teams that have not lost a five-game match. Both teams are 2-0 in such matches this seasons. Arizona State is 11-4 in five-game matches over the last three seasons... Arizona State has three freshmen that rank among the league leaders - Rachel Mittelstaedt (Assists - 9th/10.03 apg), Collette Meek (Blocks - 5th/1.22 bpg), Sydney Donahue (Service Aces - 7th/0.33 sapg, Digs - 6th/4.20 dpg).

CALIFORNIA - Sophomore L Jillian Davis suffered an ACL injury to her left knee injury in practice last week and looks to be out for the season. Davis was leading the league with 5.43 digs per game entering last weekend's play... Junior Alexis Kollias filled in at libero for the injured Davis and responded with a career-high 19 digs (3.80 dpg) in the win over Stanford. Kollias entered the match averaging 1.47 dpg... Senior OH Camille Leffall tallied a career-high 21 kills vs. Stanford... The Bears defeated Stanford in back-to-back years for the first time since 1978 and 1979.

OREGON - Senior L Katie O'Neil recorded 43 digs (8.60 dpg) in the five-game loss to Washington State. It's the second best single-match mark in school history, the third best single-match total in Pac-10 history... Over the last four matches, O'Neil has tallied 94 digs, averaging 6.71 digs per game... Sophomore OH Allyson Leavitt posted career-highs with 24 kills and 26 digs in the five-game loss to Washington State.

OREGON STATE - For the second straight match, junior MB Katelyn Healy posted a career-high in kills with 20 in the loss to Washington. She also posted her first double-double with 10 digs, and added seven blocks... The Beavers are one of two teams to have taken the undefeated Huskies to five games this season... Healy added nine kills and a career-best three service aces as the Beavers snapped an eight-match losing streak with a win over Washington State.

STANFORD - Senior OH Ogonna Nnamani has posted six of the top eight single-match kill totals in the Pac-10 this season. She has recorded 20 or more kills in a match 12 times this season... Nnamani needs 34 kills to move into second on the Pac-10's all-time kills list... The Cardinal are home for five of their next seven matches. Stanford is 8-1 at home this season, 5-0 at home in league play... After posting 16 kills/13 digs at California, sophomore Kristin Richards continues to lead the league in double-doubles with 13.

UCLA - Sophomore OH Becky Green collected a team-leading and career-high 15 digs against Arizona. It was just the third match this season that a UCLA Bruin other than senior L Chrissie Zartman has led the team in digs... Green hit .358 with 24 kills (4.00 kpg) on 53 attempts with five errors in the split with the Arizona schools... Freshman MB Nana Meriwether has 23 blocks in the last four matches, averaging 1.44 blocks per game.

USC - Senior MB Emily Adams needs two blocks to reach 400 total blocks for her career. With three more blocks, Adams will pass Meika Wagner (1991-94) for sixth on the school's career list... Senior OH Keao Burdine collected 18 kills in each match against the Arizona schools over the weekend, averaging 5.14 kills per game. No other player on the team has averaged more than 5.0 kills per game in a two-match series so far this season... With 1,241 career kills, Burdine needs 29 kills to crack the school's all-time top ten list.

WASHINGTON - Huskies continue to be a good draw at the box office. Six of the top 10 attendance marks this season are from matches that involve the Huskies... At 11-0, Washington has posted its most wins in Pac-10 play since finishing the 1997 league season at 13-5. The 13 league wins are the most ever in Pac-10 play for the Huskies, equalling the 13 wins recorded in 1988 and 1989... The next victory for the Huskies will give them their third consecutive 20-win season... Junior OH Brie Hagerty has stepped up in the absence of the injured Sanja Tomasevic. In the 13 matches prior to Tomasevic's injury, Hagerty was averaging 3.71 kills per game. Over the last six matches, she's averaging 4.81 kills per game.

WASHINGTON STATE - The Cougars snapped a 10-game losing streak with a come-from-behind five-game victory at Oregon... Senior L Stacey Holbrook posted 27 digs at Oregon - it was the fourth match this season with 20 or more digs. With 325 digs this season, Holbrook needs 28 digs to crack the school's single-season top 10 list... Sophomore MB Liz Spear, who had been averaging 0.61 blocks per game entering last weekend's play, collected 15 blocks (1.88 bpg), including a career-high nine blocks at Oregon.
